Job Description

Sterile Processing Services of America (SPSA) was founded to assist hospitals, surgery centers, and clinics with their medical device and instrument sterilization processing requirements out of its two processing facilities in Southern and Northern California. Significant investments have been, and will continue to be made in facilities, processing technology, capacity, distribution, leadership, and employee development to be the market leader in offsite surgical instrument sterilization processing in the state of California. Our aim is to be a trusted medical device and instrument sterilization processing provider to the medical community.

The Director of Inside Sales is responsible for scaled revenue generation while providing thoughtful leadership for the broader SPSA growth strategy. This position serves as the overall leader, setting the strategy and operating model for Inside Sales and the direct management of those companies. This position will have accountability for monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets, while managing cross-functional relationships and cultivating an inclusive culture for high performing teams. The Director of Inside Sales leader will collaborate with other departments, such as operations, marketing, and customer service, etc., to ensure a cohesive approach to sales and customer relations. They also represent the SPSA at customer events onsite and offsite, promoting SPSA’s services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Must be a team player as measured by his/her peers.
  • Direct sales responsibility for assign customers.
    • STERIS represented sales will be managed separately.
  • Direct sales focus areas as follows:
    • Direct hospital, surgery center, and clinic customers under contract
      • Emergency services
      • Contingency services
      • Decompression services
      • OEM services (loaner trays)
    • New direct hospital, surgery center, and clinic customer opportunities
      • Emergency services
      • Contingency services
      • Decompression services
      • OEM services (loaner trays)
  • Developing and implementing sales strategies and plans.
  • Identifying where improvements can be made and developing sales plans and strategies to achieve sales goals.
  • Sales vs. plan to be reported and distributed weekly.
  • Current and new customer sales reporting to be weekly (Friday’s).
  • Assist SPSA to identify and develop new customers for products and services.
  • Responsible for SPSA sales and marketing content including the preparation, issuance, and delivery of sales materials, exhibits, and promotion programs.
  • Excellent communications skills and a passion for customer relations required.
  • Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of sales, methods, and results.
  • Manage applicable sales and associated budgets including sales and marketing materials.
  • Collaborate with SPSA to establish and implement short- and long-range goals.
  • Represent the company at various business and community meetings to promote the company.
  • Promote positive relations with all customers, suppliers, distributors, etc..
  • Recommend policies and procedures to enhance the sales operations.
  • Work with department managers and employees to develop rolling three-year sales plans for the company. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Travel up to 50% (primarily in Southern California)

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE

10 + years of experience in the medical device industry, business development, sales and marketing is required.

EDUCATION

BA/BS University degree with a concentration in marketing, promotions, advertising sales, or business administration.

  • Someone with excellent leadership, communication, and people skills.
  • Someone with a proven track record of securing profitable new business and experience of managing people.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks; proven strong organizational and project management skills in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to foster an organization of continuous process improvement.
