Job Description

The Director of Operations is responsible for the Medical Device and Instrument Sterilization Processing at Multiple Sites to include Product Processing and Quality, Safety, Product Distribution, Supply Chain Management, and Employee Development at Sterile Processing Services of America (SPSA).  Must be able to analyze and optimize multiple facilities and implement operational enhancements to improve the overall efficiency of the company.  Meeting customer quality and delivery commitments are of paramount importance.  Fostering a safe working environment, developing people and systems, team building, continuous improvement, process control, capacity planning and efficient sterilization operations are primary priorities.   

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Must be a team player as measured by his/her peers.
  • Critical to be able to establish and maintain strong customer relationships at all levels.
  • Optimization of customer satisfaction through improved operational planning and execution.
  • Direct reports include but are not limited to Site Managers, Department Supervisors, and Supply Chain and Distribution leadership.
  • Set comprehensive goals for business growth and success.
  • Quality system to be compliant to AAMI standards, ISO 13485:2016 standards, and FDA compliant guidelines.
  • Establishes quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the company’s efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Plans, directs, controls, implements, evaluates, monitors, and forecasts budgets and cost of sales in each division to achieve financial objectives.  5% annual cost reductions overall and for each site is the planning guideline.
  • Manages cross-functional processing, distribution, and supply chain activities.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business procedures.
  • Effective planning and layout of workflow operations.
  • Implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations.
  • Ensures work environments are safe at all times.
  • Supports sterilization processing volumes, quality, and customer service, ensuring each is reaching goals set by facility and SPSA leadership.
  • Communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures to managers; for major changes, meets with entire operations staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale.
  • Ensure compliance on a company, state and federal level.
  • Recruiting, hiring, coaching and developing staff.
    • Job descriptions, goals and objectives, one on one and team communications, etc.
  • Improvement of quality and costs by researching best practices and identifying new technology, skills, and processes.
  • Improves customer service and satisfaction through policy and procedural changes.
  • Leads coordination and integration of efforts among operations, engineering, technology, and customer service divisions to produce smoother workflow and more cost-effective business processes.
  • Projects a professional and positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community.
  • Support and enhance sales processes.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE:

Five or more years in a leadership role in the medical device or sterilization industry.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business administration or related field.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Superior knowledge of multiple operational functions and principles, including finance, customer service, production, and employee management
  • Proven ability to plan and manage operational processes for maximum efficiency and productivity.
  • Ability to streamline or implement structures and roles that boost speed and efficiency while supporting rapidly shifting business demands
  • Strong working knowledge of industry regulations and legal guidelines
  • Experience in developing budgets and business plans
  • Strong working knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics, using business management software (ex: SAP, ERP, CRM)

WORKING CONDITIONS:
